Propaganda, disinformation and online tactics to undermine democracy
Year: 2021
Author: Jonila Godole
The need for preparing this handbook is triggered by the rapid developments in the media and information environment that directly affect students in the classroom. Propaganda is inevitably encountered online, as is fake news and hate speech, and the latter should be used in the curriculum, as well. In these circumstances, the need for media literacy comes once again to the forefront. The key elements of media literacy can be found in the previous Handbook of this series, which contains supporting materials for teachers and students. A brief summary, however, of the most important items is also provided herein.
