The seminar was organized on 16–22 June 2019 by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Warsaw and the Krzyżowa Foundation for Mutual Understanding in Europe, in cooperation with the Regional Representation of the European Commission.

During the seminar the example of German-Polish reconciliation was offered in order to bring an example for the Western Balkans case. The program included various lecturers from the German-Polish past history to contemporary relations combined with study visits to sites of memory in Poland and Germany. The seminar focused on the people as the key factor in the process of reconciliation. As such reconciliation needs a fundamental change in the way people in the WB think of each other. At this point, non-governmental institutions in the WB should implement more creative projects to grab the attention of their respective societies, in particular projects focusing on enhancing youth cooperation in the WB.

IDMC work was presented by Matilda Karcanaj during the formal and non-formal discussions to 31 young representatives form different institutions from Poland, Germany, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia. Among other it was discussed for future collaboration between IDMC and other institutions working in the field of memory which were represented in the seminar.
