"Public policy and governance" in Vlora
Institute for Democracy, Media & Culture organized today at the European Union Information Center, Vlore, a training entitled Public Policy and Governance, attended by 30 young people from Vlore and surrounding cities such as Fier, Gjirokaster, Permet etc. The training is part of a series of workshops IDMC has also organized in Tirana and Shkoder in the frame of "Youth and Politics" project.
The main goal was to improve the understanding, knowledge and political skills of young people. As such, the training aimed to introduce them with the different contexts of public policies, the forms of action and inaction, and their influence in measuring the democratic level of a country's governance. Besides the general understanding about public policies, their types and governance in a broader context, the training was meant to enhance participation and decision-making skills. Participants were further expected to understand the importance of working in groups in order to be able to implement concrete public policies and achieve the desired results.
The training was divided in two parts. In the first part, the young people received theoretical concepts of public policy and governance. They acquired more knowledge particularly with regard to the different public policies. In the second part, after the lunch break, participants applied the knowledge gained in concrete public policies by working in groups. Such division generated interesting discussions and debates, moderated by the trainer.
At the end of the workshop, participants completed the evaluation form for the workshop and received a certificate of completion. In the form, they expressed the desire to attend similar future trainings conducted through non-formal education.
* The EU Information Center in Vlore served as a partner to IDMC for the "Public Policy and Governance" training.
