"Public policy and governance" in Tirana II
Due to the many applications received for the first training on "Public Policy and Governance", IDMC organized a second training in Tirana, which will be followed by two others in Shkoder on April 16th and Vlore on May 13th.
The numerous applications for a new training in Tirana show that youth are not passive recipients. They emphasized the need for more workshops to help them enhance their knowledge about politics. Most of those who applied for this training course were students, and the others were young people working in fields related to politics and economics.
The students' high participation reveals that despite the knowledge gained in the universities, they are aware of the need to deepen their understanding about specific topics and meet other people who share their same interests. In conclusion, we could say that the interest of young people to apply and undergo a selection process in workshops that combine theoretical and practical knowledge, such as Public Policy and Governance, is a positive sign about the future of civic education of youth in Tirana and throughout Albania.
In the selection phase, IDMC tried to keep a balance between students of finance and economics and those of social sciences, such as: Political Science, Law, Journalism etc. The intention was to familiarize them with each other's points of view, as was noted by the participants at the end of the workshop.
At the end of workshop, the students completed the evaluation form for the workshop. Many suggested that IDMC should continue with these workshops, and even introduce a cycle of seminars related to civic education, so they could apply again. The participants admitted they lacked proper education on the topic of "Public Policy and Governance", and noted that the workshop provided a new perspective and motivated them to be engaged in the discussion.
