"Memory Alive in arts and multimedia" in Skrapar

IDMC paid a visit to Skrapar. The documentary "Memory of a Country that Forgot to Forget" was screened at Kanione Hotel in the frame of Memory Alive project, following similar activities in other cities such as Tirana, Shkoder, Berat, and Gjirokaster.
Young people from Corovode and representatives of the Municipality of Skrapar attended the event. An opening speech was delivered by executive director of IDMC, Dr. Jonila Godole. For the next 30 minutes, the participants watched the film. Mr. Nuri Musabelliu told the young people of Corovode his family's experience with political persecution, whereas journalist Mustafa Nano helped them deepen their knowledge about the dictatorship. Interesting discussions between guests were moderated by Mr. Parid Teferiçi.
Corovoda youth admitted to having little interest in this part of the Albanian history. They also noted what they had been taught at school or through their parents and grandparents about it was not enough for a clear understanding of Albania's dictatorship. The documentary prompted them to ask and read more about the dictatorship in Albania.
Ms. Anila Basho, director of the Historical Museum of Corovode, emphasized the importance of acknowledging historical figures. The first part of this activity included a cocktail for all the participants, a visit to Skrapari's places of memory and museum, and later a visit to the Weapons Factory in Polican.
