As part of the series under the name "Memory Alive through Arts and Multimedia" launched by IDMC, the "A Dialogue Between Past and Present" meeting that took place in Shkoder was attended by students of the University of Shkoder, interested citizens, former politically persecuted etc. Other partners included "Place of Testimony and Memory" and the University of Shkoder.

Knowing and reflecting on the past is a responsibility for the present to build a healthier future. In meeting with students, it was important to open up a discussion about the past, to listen to their thoughts and suggestions. In this context, the documentary "The Memory of a Country that Forgot to Forget", shot in various cities across Albania and centering on the young people's memories of the past, was screened for the participants. The team behind the documentary talked about their project and the difficulties they had to face while filming. Gjet Vocaj, formerly politically persecuted, shared particular events of his personal experience and gave an honest accounting for the generation born after the '90s.

"We don't want revenge, but a fair and objective reading of history, so that the future can be built free from the past mistakes."
