"Communism through archival documents" in Vlora
IDMC in cooperation with the Albanian History Teachers Association and Vlora Youth Centre organized the second training for the history teachers on how to use the manual "Communism through Archival Documents 1" at Vlora Youth Centre. This manual addresses the repression and period of self isolation from the second half of 1970 to the first half of 1980. Teachers learned how to use this book in the classroom with their pupils.
In the opening the training was greeted by IDMC Project Coordinator, Matilda Karçanaj, who introduced the teachers to IDMC work and among others invited them to encourage their high school students to be part of creative projects that aim raising awareness about the consequences of the communist past. The activity was after that greeted by the Director of Vlora Regional Education Authority, Albana Hodaj, who emphasized the importance of dealing with the past of the country and encouraged the teachers to be part of these kind of trainings and seminars.
The training was organized in three parallel workshops in Vlora Youth Centre with participation of teachers from Vlora, Fieri, Elbasan and area surrounding.
Through these trainings IDMC aims to help teachers build a lesson through the use of historical documents with interactive learning methods in the classroom. Learning and the understanding of history in schools becomes more meaningful if high school students and teachers can use resources appropriate for the students' age.
In the end of the training, the evaluation form for the workshop was completed and the certificates of participation were delivered to each participant.
