"Communism through archival documents" in Tirana V

IDMC organized the workshop and training on "Use of Oral History and Archival Documents in the Classroom". The activity was opened by IDMC Program Coordinator, Matilda Karçanaj, who greeted the participants and talked about the main objectives if the workshop as well as the specific role of IDMC working with young people in the topic of dealing with the past.

Present in the workshop was also Edlira Agolli, co-author of the "Manual on Oral History". She presented the manual as a work about the past, a practical tool for teachers and young scholars and as a value in fostering the use of oral history.

Gëzim Peshkëpia, a contemporary witness who has shared his family story with IDMC for the Oral History project was present and emphasized the need of including the testimonies of former persecuted people in the school program. First part of the workshop was closed with a discussion between participants with Edlira Agolli and Gëzim Peshkëpia

In the second part of the workshop, the participants were divided in three groups working based on the pedagogical manual "Communism through Archival Documents 2" lead by Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj, Vojsava Kumbulla and Gentian Dedja.

At the end of the workshop anonymous evaluation forms for the workshop were completed and certificates were delivered.
