"Communism through archival documents" in Tirana IV

On 24–26 April 2019, IDMC opened the series of the workshops with the history teachers for 2019. The workshop was opened by Matilda Karçanaj, the Program Coordinator of IDMC, who emphasized the importance of using archival documents accompanied with pedagogical tool in the classroom. Later on, Idrit Idrizi, the trainer of the workshop instructed the participants how to approach communism through archival documents in order to make these documents understandable for high school students. Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj talked about the current situation of the coverage done to communism period in the history textbooks.
In this workshop, the teachers selected in cooperation with the Albanian Association of History Teachers made a significant contribution during the two days in selecting archival documents from 1960–1970 for the third edition of the pedagogical manual "Communism through Archival Documents". At the end of the workshop, teachers completed the evaluation forms for the workshop and were provided with the certificates for the contribution given at the workshop.
About the Trainers
- Dr. Idrit Idrizi is a researcher, Post-Doc scientific assistant at the University of Vienna (Post-Doc-Track program). He studied History and Human Rights and has a PhD in History from the University of Vienna. His research fields are Communism and Memory about Communism in Albania and Southeastern Europe.
- Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj is a history expert and ambassador of EUROCLIO. She is one of the initiators of Albanian History Teachers Association (ALBNA) and former President of ALBNA. She was Secretary of the Scientific Commission of the History and Geography at MOA-ALBANIA for the approval of the school textbooks, and Secretary of the History Commission for revision of the history textbooks in Albania and Greece.
