"Children of the Dictatorship" screening in Tirana II

"Children of the Dictatorship" documentary was screened at "Ernest Koliqi" high school in Tirana. At the beginning of the activity Matilda Karcanaj, IDMC Program Assistant, shared with participants the role of IDMC in raising awareness on young people about the consequences of the communist crimes and how students can involve themselves in these projects. Karcanaj told the young people:
"If we were not provided with information about the communist crimes during our studies then today we have to ask about it."
The documentary screening was followed by a discussion of the young people with the contemporary witness Alma Liço. The discussion was moderated by Ben Andoni, who also emphasized the importance of dealing with the dictatorship past and how important is that the young people know and reflect on the past, as well. Highs school students themselves brought to attention family's stories from the dictatorship era. Mrs. Liço and Mr. Andoni discussed with the young people how powerful tool was propaganda during the dictatorship and how it was used to make people believe that the Party and Hoxha's system was always right. To this extent, the point of view that Kosovo Albanians had about the regime of Enver Hoxha was highlighted.
