"Children of the Dictatorship" screening in Gramsh

After being screened in Tirana and Elbasan, "Children of the Dictatorship" documentary was screened in Gramsh. In this meeting held in Gramshi's Regional Education Authority took part high school students of "Shefqet Guzi" high school, teaching staff of the high school, representatives of Gramsh ZA and citizens.
After the documentary screening the participants had the chance to discuss with Alma Liço, character of the movie, at the same time contemporary witness. In the discussion moderated by Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj, Alma shared with the participants the suffering of the dictatorship that started since when she was 10 years old and transmitted the message that we should not distribute the language of revenge, "but even without making justice we do not know where we are going" said Liço. Meanwhile the executive director of IDMC, Dr. Godole said:
"We are raising generations without memory, without identity, therefore this initiative is very important because the knowledge that young people have for the dictatorship period is poor."
The youth's interest was noted in their various comments and questions that they had for the panel from the consequences of the dictatorship nowadays to the nostalgia phenomenon. In addition, they shared family's experience of the dictatorship period, expressing their solidarity with the pain of all those that suffered due to the dictatorship. While Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj urged young people to become promoter of the change. The meeting brought reflection for the citizens of Gramshi also who agreed with their fellow citizen comment on the former-persecuted people in Gramsh, who said: "We children of that time loved them quietly, we adored them, but we could not express due to the system."
The discussion continued after the activity in an informal setting during the cocktail prepared for the participants.

About the Guests
- Alma Liço was born in Tirana in an educated family in Korca. Her family were persecuted by the Communist dictatorship in the village of Dragot, Elbasan, when she was only 10 years old. Mrs. Liço is author of several articles about the Albanian dictatorship and the "Krahë të këputur" book.
- Fatmiroshe Xhemalaj is a history expert and ambassador of EUROCLIO. She is one of the initiators of HTA (ALBAN) and former President of HAT. She was Secretary of the Scientific Commission of the History and Geography at MOA-ALBANIA for the approval of the school textbooks, and Secretary of the History Commission for revision of the history textbooks in Albania and Greece.
