Calendar of memory 2021

In this 30th anniversary of the fragile Albanian democracy, the "Calendar of Memory", initiated by the Institute for Democracy, Media and Culture, comes as a test to record the historical events and the main developments related to the efforts for freedom, democracy and rights of man in Albania. It would be impossible to include all the commemorative dates in a pocket book, but we think the dates we have included in this calendar are the most representative for understanding the lack of democratic experience and the reasons for the installation of dictatorship in Albania (1944–1992).

The "Calendar of Memory" can be accessed on the Albanian Observatory on Memories website (www. observatorikujteses.al) and remains open for additions and suggestions to be more complete and consolidated. We want the "Calendar of Memory" to accompany you throughout the year in managing your daily agenda, but also to serve as a chronicle of events and historical memory. Because keeping this memory alive is a guarantee that the dark past will not be repeated.
