40 finalists of the "Ask Your Grandparents 4" competition visit sites of memory from communist time

1st Day
Visit to "BunkArt 2"
First day of this study trip started with a visit to "BunkArt 2", a video museum exhibition dedicated to the victims of communist terror.
2nd Day
Visit to former prison of Spac
The young people, representing different schools from Tirana, Berat, Durres and Shkodra had the chance to visit the former prison of Spaç and also talked with Gjet Gjoci, who have been looking after this prison for more than 18 years. He told different stories and barbaric tortures that have happened to the political prisoners during the communist regime.
3rd Day
Visit to Site of Witness and Memory Museum in Shkodra
The youngsters visited the Site of Witness and Memory built in 1930 as a college for the Franciscan fathers. When the communist regime came to power in 1945, the building served as a branch of the Interior Ministry where many opponents of the communist regime, among them nuns and priests, have been violated for more than one decade. Pjerin Mirdita took care to show the youngsters around, to the places that have been turned into a museum nowadays. He also confessed many stories that happened there.
4th Day
Visit to Musine Kokalari's house and former prison of Gjirokastra
The study visit in south began with a visit to the house of Musine Kokalari. The group learned about the history of the first Albanian female author who founded the Social-Democrat Party after WWII and faced the Communist persecution. Later the group visited the former prison where they had the chance to talk with Jorgo Masho, a contemporary witness and former prisoner. Last stop of this tour visit was at Former Prosecuted Village in Lushnja.
